As clinical team leader and dual-diagnosis/social services counselor of this 21-bed inpatient acute psychiatric unit, my responsibilities included team leadership of counseling/social services staff, as well as hospital case management and utilization review, aftercare planning, individual, group and family counseling. As a distance learning adjunct faculty member, previously taught in the traditional classroom, but now teach in the online environment. Developed and currently teach the following online courses: SYG 2324: “Principles of Substance Abuse”; and HUS 2428: “Treatment and Resources in Substance Abuse”. My online courses have received excellent reviews from students for their organization and ease-of-understanding. I was offered the opportunity to remain as a distance-learning faculty member for this Florida institution, despite moving to North Carolina.
